FAQ

“Will the hypnotist be able to control my mind?”

NO! No one can control your mind. You are always in complete control of yourself. In fact, you are in more control under hypnosis than you are in a fully conscious state. Think about the last time someone asked you to do something that you didn’t really want to do, but you couldn’t say no. Well, in hypnosis, your subconscious mind has no problem rejecting any suggestions it does not want to accept. As professional hypnotherapists, we make positive suggestions based on what you, the client, has indicated to be of concern during the cognitive interview. Your critical mind keeps your morals, ethics and values in place at all times.

“Will I be made to perform embarrassing acts such as barking like a dog or break dancing?”

NO! That is stage hypnosis, which is for entertainment purposes only and has been greatly exaggerated. In truth, many times these people volunteer to act on stage and they allow themselves to participate in these silly performances. You are in complete control at all times and cannot be made to do anything you don’t want to do. Hypnotherapy is a serious practice of vocational and avocational self-improvement.

"Is hypnosis Voodoo, Black Magic or part of the Supernatural?”

NO! Hypnosis is a natural state that we go through every day and has been studied scientifically. It is based on many years of clinical research by psychologists such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung as well as more recently by Milton Erickson, M.D. and Dr. John Kappas. Hypnotherapy is an accepted practice that is used by the Mayo Clinic.

"What if I can’t be hypnotized?"

Everyone is hypnotized every day. It is natural and it is normal. It is also imaginative, relaxing and fun. Imagine if we didn’t have our favorite television show, favorite author or a favorite hobby which allows us to escape from reality momentarily? Having that power of single source focus to channel positive suggestions for self-improvement and self-empowerment is what we can do with hypnosis.

"If I become hypnotized, will I be able to come out of it?"

YES! A person can naturally come out of the hypnotic state, if he or she so desires, by simply opening their eyes and stretching or speaking.

"Is hypnosis dangerous?"

NO! To the contrary, only positive suggestions are offered during hypnosis that result in many beneficial effects for the mind and body. First and foremost it offers a sense of deep relaxation, relieving stress and tensions. In fact hypnosis is very safe and effective in all areas of self-improvement and self-empowerment for vocational and avocational purposes.

When hypnotized, will I lose all sense of my surroundings and have no memory of the session?”

NO! Hypnosis is not an unconscious state of sleep. In fact, most people report having a heightened sense of awareness, concentration and focus. Furthermore, they can even hear more acutely during a session.

“What if I am too far away from your office?”

Phone sessions are available if you are too far away or cannot make a scheduled visit.
